2012 Transnationalism Fellowship Program PDF Print E-mail

The Mexico-North Research Network announces its 2012 fellowship program to support innovative research on U.S.-Mexican Transnationalism and on U.S.-Mexican Transnational Communities and to foster collaboration among U.S. and Mexican scholars on topics related to these themes.

Research projects on any aspects of U.S.-Mexican Transnationalism and Transnational Communities will be considered, but the projects must focus on topics that have not been thoroughly explored and must contribute significantly to the advancement of scholarship on these topics.

Fellowships will be awarded to graduate students and Ph.D. scholars to conduct six to eight weeks of research in Mexico between June 1 and September 30, 2012. The program has been funded by the U.S. Department of State, the Secretaría de Relaciones Exteriores of Mexico, and the Rockefeller Foundation. Of the 4-12 fellowships that will be awarded, four will be available to U.S. citizens only.

Fellowship stipends are $4,000-$6,000 for the fellowship period. Each fellow will also receive an allowance of $500 for research-related expenses, including travel within Mexico. Travel expenses between the United States and Mexico will be covered separately. Applicants should submit the application materials no later than February 15, 2012.

Programa de Becas sobre Transnacionalismo 2012


Mexico-North Research Network da a conocer su ciclo de Becas 2012 sobre Transnacionalismo y Comunidades Transnacionales. Este programa brinda apoyo a proyectos de investigación que propongan perspectivas y temas innovadores que contribuyan al entendimiento del "Transnacionalismo" y de las "Comunidades Transnacionales" de México y los Estados Unidos, y a la teoría del "transnacionalismo" en general. Con esto se pretende estrechar la colaboración entre académicos e investigadores de ambos países.

Las becas serán otorgadas a investigadores que, habiendo obtenido su título profesional de licenciatura, se encuentren cubriendo estudios de posgrado ya sea a nivel maestría o doctorado así como a académicos doctorados, para llevar a cabo sus respectivas investigaciones en los Estados Unidos, las cuales cubren el periodo de dos meses a partir del 1 junio, hasta el 30 de septiembre del 2012. Este programa está subvencionado por la Secretaria de Relaciones Exteriores la Fundación Rockefeller y el Departamento de Estado de los Estados Unidos. De las 8-12 becas que serán otorgadas, cuatro están destinadas a ciudadanos mexicanos. La fecha límite para recibir solicitudes es el 15 de febrero del 2012.

Las becas ascienden de $4,000-$6,000 dólares por becario que cubren los dos meses de estancia de la beca. Cada becario recibirá además la cantidad de $500 dólares para gastos relativos a la investigación, incluyendo transportación dentro de los Estados Unidos. El traslado entre México y los Estados Unidos será cubierto por separado.
