Membership Options
![]()
All memberships in the Mexico-North Research Network, Inc. are institutional; individuals may not become members of Mexico-North. There are three categories of membership in Mexico-North: single institutional membership, group membership, and system membership. These different membership categories provide maximum flexibility and accessibility for participation in Mexico-North, allowing institutions to contribute to and benefit from membership according to their means and interests.
There are two requirements for membership in Mexico-North: 1) acceptance and approval by the Board of Directors of a written application for membership and 2) receipt of the membership fee. The Board of Directors reserves the right to reject any membership application and will work with the applicant to determine the most appropriate membership category. Memberships are renewed annually and require approval by the Board of Directors and payment of the membership fee. Details of the application process are available upon request.
Single Institutional Membership
The single institutional membership is the basic membership option and is available to organizations, trusts, and other entities. Each single institution member has one vote in all decisions brought before the membership.
Group Membership
Group memberships allow smaller, less affluent organizations to pool their resources in order to generate sufficient funds to pay the annual $2000 membership fee. Such memberships include two or more institutions that voluntarily come together to obtain membership; they determine which institutions will be part of their group and how the membership fee will be apportioned among them. Application to the Board of Directors for a group membership must include a list of participating institutions and statements signed by representatives of these institutions indicating their willingness to cooperate in establishing and maintaining the membership. Each institution within the group will enjoy the same privileges as single institutional members of Mexico-North except that the group will share a single vote.
System Membership
A system membership is appropriate for multiple entities, like universities within state systems that share budgets or administrative structures. System memberships are designed to offer such large organizations the opportunity to join Mexico-North as a unit at a discounted fee-rate. As in the case of group members, each of the component institutions of a system will receive the same benefits from Mexico-North as single institutional members, but the number of votes they hold is reduced in proportion to the prorated fee they pay. Entrance of only a part of a system is not permitted under this category of membership.
